Meet Kristen, Angel, and Sennie of Crux NY- the latest design group emerging from NYC (well almost). With Kristen living in LA while Sennie and Angel grind it out in New York this design trio is taking style by storm with their affordable line of statement accessories. Originally from Cali - the uber talented trio met while attending California State - Long Beach. Fast forward, six years later, the trio banded together to form Crux NY - whispered to be one of the hottest accessory lines amongst NYC’s trendiest urbanites. With an objective to create and sell pieces that are affordable to the average working woman - Crux accessories are daring and will “ Put you out there as the DIVA you are” says Senni - designer.

MM: All of your accessories are handmade and because they are all very lovely I can imagine the labor that goes into them. That said, how does your accessories range in price ?

Angel of CNY: Our pieces range from $35 to $110. We design rings, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, shoulder pieces, and on occasion eyewear.

MM: What motivated you to create an accessories line ?

Sennie of CNY: Accessories add a lasting impression to a woman’s look. They can make or brake your outfit - totally giving your look a new transformation. Often times I shop at Forever 21 and sometimes people stop and ask, where did I get my outfit from - when I tell them Forever 21 - they go into shock. Simply because of the way I accessorize. Accessorizing maximizes your LOOK. So, for us it was about creating bold dynamics that will add WOW to your everyday look.

MM: What role do each of you play in Crux ?

Kristen of CNY: Angel and Sennie are the designers within the group. I spearhead the business aspect of Crux as far as marketing, finding placement in boutiques and overall expanding the brand as I currently live in LA and so while Angel and Sennie are here in NY, I’m in LA working as their business liaison.

MM: Do you find it challenging to work on the West Coast while Sennie and Angel are here in New York ?

Kristen of CNY: Well...the girls are night owls so its not too challenging - since LA is 3 hours behind. The only thing that poses as a challenge is when there’s a new product created and I’m not there to physically touch or see it, or in a case where there is a photo shoot and I have to travel to New York which isn’t really MUCH of a challenge but it can be ( smile).

MM: From the inside looking out - what would be considered the biggest gripe on Crux  ?

Kristen of CNY: I’d say its getting the word out about us. We use to send monthly newsletters out before our website launched and now that the site has launched its a matter of attracting NEW clients and that is the hardest part. While we get lots of inquiries from women whenever we attend special events and functions - our product sells itself, its just a matter of pushing our product in such a way that it becomes a popular favorite rather than preferred by only a select group.It’s like opening a new restarurant and getting the neighbor traffic but having the desire to expand your customer base to where people are traveling from across the city just to eat at your restaurant.

MM:What advice can you give women on accessorizing ?

Angel of CNY: Go with what works - keeping in mind that everything isn’t for everyone.

Sennie of CNY : I’d say, refrain from wearing matchy matchy accessories. Everything should be done in moderation. The days where your purse MUST match your shoes are over. Today there is a such thing as mixing and matching creating a subtle look with a pop of WOW.

MM: Describe the Crux woman..

Angel of CNY: The Crux woman is bold and confident and must be comfortable with attracting attention because when you wear Crux accessories you have to be prepared for the attention you’re going to receive.
